Acting on information gathered by whistleblowers is vital for any investigative operation. They’re the ones with first hand experience of the issues.
Our whistleblower in Manchester supplied the relevant information, stating that the nightshift was stealing product out of the warehouse – one pallet of £26,000, every month. Company management were keen to establish the legitimacy of the theft and the identity of the thieves.
Using Whistleblowers Information to Conduct Surveillance
We observed the area where the thefts were taking place and we decided to conduct an observation operation from the undergrowth. This provided a clear view to the external side rear doors and the rear compound of the factory from where the product was being removed.
Our team of military officers dug into the undergrowth overlooking the rear compound. Over a period of seven days, during the night shift, they observed the removal of the product. Where the nightshift employees transferred it to their private vehicles.
The team covertly recorded all evidence. Subsequent enquiries identified the stolen product up for sale on various well-known websites. Expert Investigations made test purchases (and the collection of the product), with everything covertly recorded so to identify the employees selling the stolen product.
We handed the evidence off to the client, who informed the police. The employees had to deal with disciplinary process and also the criminal justice system.
