Personal items such as mobile phones money and credit card were being stolen from the handbags jackets and desk drawers of employees in a large open plan office in Berkshire.

There was no CCTV or access control and therefore it could be any number of 20+ employees that could be committing the thefts.

Upon consultation with the client it was decided that covert cameras would be placed in various locations throughout the open plan office.

During one night over a weekend when the office was closed Expert Investigations went with a manager and installed covert cameras in the stated locations where items were subsequently placed that would be enticing for the offenders to steal.

Within three days several items were stolen and the evidence was secured from the recording devices and an employee is identified. Further items were replaced again enticing the offender to commit further offences. Upon that further thefts the evidence was again secured and the same employee was seen stealing the items.

As a result of the thefts the police were informed by the clients and the employee was arrested. Upon investigation by the Police it was identified that the employee was involved in a crime ring which was involved in stealing credit and debit cards and using them for the sale for the purchase of other items.
